Beautiful, But Not Most Beautiful

On April 13 actress, R&B artist, American Idol judge and business woman Jennifer Lopez was awarded this year’s People Magazine’s “World’s Most Beautiful Woman.”

The title she was given has been previously awarded to women such as Julia Roberts and Christina Applegate in previous years. Yet while this is a great honor for Lopez, there are a vast number of People Magazine readers who do not agree with their choice. The question is, did Lopez deserve this honor?

Lopez is a hardworking mother, who is able to raise her children, Emme and Max, keep a healthy seven-year marriage to Marc Anthony, while continuing to develop her blossoming career. She has the support of many fans-from her music career, acting career, and others who enjoy her success in Hollywood. Lopez was nominated for “Best Actress-Motion Picture Musical or Comedy” in 1997 for her role in the film “Selena.” Her acting career includes hits like “The Wedding Planner,” “Monster-in-Law,” and “The Back-Up Plan.”

While her acting career has been successful, her music career has been equally awe-inspring. In 2001 she was nominated for “Best Dance Recording” in the Grammys. Her songs are very successful, including a number one-single, “If You Had My Love,” as well as her song “No Me Ames” receiving two nominations at the 2000 Latin Grammy Awards-“Best Pop Duo/Group with Vocal Performance” and “Best Music Video.”

Lopez has always been known for her natural beauty and fashion sense, but some People readers believe there are many other attractive women who are more suited for this honor. Names such as Mila Kunis, Katy Perry, Natalie Portman, and Chanel Iman were thrown around in reader’s complaints about the title given to Lopez. Lopez is considered one of the most beautiful women in the world, but after many years in the spotlight, she is really not one of the top contenders for this category anymore.
